From Homeless to Completely Restored

Ethiopian woman working on work of art

All hope seemed lost for Edom Tesfaye. Her boyfriend had abandoned her, leaving her expecting, scared, and all alone. Things got so bad that she was forced to leave her home and spend her days living on the harsh streets of Mojo, Ethiopia. Every day, finding food and somewhere safe to spend the night was challenging. Life truly wasn’t easy for an expecting mother who was looked upon as the scum of the earth. But God had a different plan for Edom.

Approached by our Hope For Kids team in Ethiopia, Africa, hope started to bubble up in her heart as they shared the truth of the gospel with her. Was what they were telling her true? Would she really be given a second chance to rebuild her life? There was only one way for her to find out.

She must have thought, “Anything is better than living on these streets with no purpose, striving to make it to the end of each day.” She decided to go with our team, trusting that what they said must be true. As they made their way to our Hope For Kids Orphanage in Ethiopia, hope came alive for her and her baby’s future.

She and her baby daughter soon became one of the many beautiful people at our Hope for Kids center.

Growing in every area of her life, spiritually, physically, and mentally, she has begun learning a trade—crocheting beautiful things like hats, scarves, and purses to support herself and her baby.

The Lord had a different plan than what she could have ever asked or imagined for herself. Her beautiful creations are being sold in Ethiopia and (sneak peek) at our upcoming Reignite Conference. If you want to get your hands on one of her lovely creations, your chance is coming soon!
